Loose Tea
Tea has come a long way from the low quality and limited varieties found in supermarkets. These days, a person can enjoy cups of white tea, green tea, black tea, and red tea. There are fruity-flavored teas, smooth evening teas, tea for the morning, and teas blended to improve your health.
While teas in the supermarkets now offer a variety, they still fall short, as they tend to specialize in commercially-produced bagged tea.
Why is loose tea better than bagged tea?
- Size - Bigger is Better: When tea is commercially bagged, the tea leaves are broken up. Loose tea comes with bigger leaves, which contain chemicals and oils that are the basis for a delightful flavor of the tea. When the leaves are broken up, those oils evaporate and the result is a dull and tasteless tea. Typically, the commercially made tea in bags are the tiniest pieces of broken leaves, known as fannings.
- Space: Tea leaves require space, so that they may expand, swell, and unfurl. When using tea bags, the tea leaves are cramped within the bags, so they don't provide the good water circulation required for a wonderful cup of tea.
- Variety: While bagged tea varieties have expanded, the beauty of loose means more creative combinations of leaves, which result in a wide range of different flavors and health benefits. The possibilities with loose tea become endless!
